Waitakere United have one hand on the National Youth League title, now holding a six-point lead with only three match weeks remaining.
The west Aucklanders continue be the only team with a perfect record and their latest success was a home triumph over Canterbury United.
They also benefitted from two of their title rivals playing off against each other as Auckland City edged out Hamilton Wanderers in a five-goal thriller.
The only other side with seemingly any hope of catching Waitakere also stayed in the hunt, Tasman United earning a narrow victory over a Hawke’s Bay United team that played the last quarter of an hour with only 10 men.
Southern United and Eastern Suburbs meanwhile shared the spoils after scoring three apiece while Team Wellington and the Wellington Phoenix also had to settle for a draw in their local derby.
