Ben Bate’s side are set to make history as they take part in the first-ever match of the competition, facing Asian champions Wuhan Jiangda WFC.
The game kicks off at 9PM (NZT) at Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium, China, and will be a single-leg knockout fixture.
The winner will advance to Round 2, scheduled for December (date to be confirmed), where they’ll face the champions of Africa, yet to be decided.
Wuhan Jiangda WFC qualified for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup after winning the AFC Women’s Champions League 2025, defeating Melbourne City 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the final.
The Chinese Women’s Super League season wrapped up on 28 September, with Wuhan finishing fifth on the table.
Auckland United, meanwhile, earned their place after winning the OFC Women’s Champions League 2025, going unbeaten through the tournament, scoring 31 goals and conceding only two.
Although Auckland couldn’t defend their title in the NRFL Women’s Premiership this year, they’re determined to make history on the international stage and fight for a spot in the next round.
