What happened last time?

Wellington Phoenix and Eastern Suburbs met just the once last season, as COVID-19 robbed them of a second meeting. They drew 2-2 at Madills Farm as the Phoenix’s Gary Hooper added the ISPS Handa Premiership to the considerable list of leagues he has scored in.

“As a squad, I think we'd be pretty happy with what we've done so far, though obviously it’s still very early into the season. So lots to come from us, but I think we're pretty happy with our performances so far, it was a good win [against Canterbury United] on the weekend for the boys.

“We've been ripping into training this week, so we're looking forward to going down to Wellington and playing the Phoenix. I would say their counterattack is a big threat, so we have to be cautious about that.”
