Just days after becoming a Bundesliga champion, All Whites midfielder Sarpreet Singh has ticked off another achievement after making his first league start for Bayern Munich.
The Gernan giants wrapped up a record eight consecutive title mid-week, allowing coach Hansi Flick to make five changes for the clash against SC Freiburg.
The New Zealander had previously only made one appearance as a substitute this season but has featured regularly on the bench in recent times. He was finally rewarded for his patience by being handed a start on the left side of midfield.
He nearly made a dream start early on, rifling a well-struck shot towards goal that was deflected out for a corner.
The 21-year-old gave a good account of himself as part of a world-class attacking combination that also included superstars Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller.
All the goalscoring took place in the first half with Lewandowski notching a brace and Joshua Kimmich scoring the other as Bayern claimed a 3-1 win.
Singh played for over an hour at Bayern’s Allianz Arena – again empty due to COVID-19 precautions – before his second Bundesliga outing was brought to an end in being replaced by France international Kingsley Coman.
He will be hoping for more game time in Bayern’s remaining league match against Wolfsburg next weekend.
Singh could also add another medal to his collection in the German Cup final, in which Bayern will take on Bayer Leverkusen on 4 July as they look to claim a double.
