The future of the game in this country was on show across five days of fun and football at the National Age Group Tournament in Wellington, where hundreds of talented youth players gathered to test themselves against their counterparts from other regions.
While the emphasis was on player development and enjoyment, teams from the Auckland Football Federation were the overall winners, claiming the coveted Federation Cup after winning two of the age groups and finishing runners-up in another two.
Mainland and Northern also picked up titles while the individual awards were shared around the federations.
