Quotes
Sam Wilkinson (Phoenix assistant coach): “We were disappointed with aspects of our play last week and ultimately it came down to some poor finishing from us and a few lapses in concentration at the other end. We’ve got some young players who are experiencing this for the first time but they’ve got to learn very quickly that at this level the concentration levels required defensively are high. And at times their quality in possession has to lift a little bit as well. Things they could maybe get away with in age-group football they can’t in our top league. So they need to get up to speed quickly and learn some of those lessons.”
Bill Robertson (Hawke’s Bay United co-coach): “We were disappointed not to get something from the game against Auckland City. I thought we dominated most of the second half but ultimately a few sloppy goals early in the game killed us. If we were a little bit more clinical on the day then it would have been a different scoreline altogether. So there were lots of positives but obviously we’ve got to make sure we pick up some points so that will be the focus this week.”

Coach: Paul O’Reilly
Quotes
Lee Padmore (Canterbury coach): “I think we can take some real positives out of last week, there were a lot of good Canterbury values that were obvious in the performance – we were resilient and it was certainly an honest performance. We probably weren’t as brave as we would have liked in possession and we’ll be looking to implement that a little bit more this week as we move through the process. I’ve got a lot of time for Paul O’Reilly, the job he’s done down there with Southern has been exceptional. But there’s no love lost as soon as that whistle goes. This is a derby and you can expect us to be well and truly ramped up for this one.”

Coach: Tony Readings
Quotes
Ricki Herbert (Hamilton Wanderers coach): “The result was disappointing for us and we were our own worst enemies, if you cough up three goals like that it’s always going to make it difficult against a team like Team Wellington, especially away from home. We’ve got a few players out to be fair and we’re hoping those players aren’t too far away. We’ve got another tough game this weekend so the challenges keep coming and we just have to be better with them. We have to be better making crucial decisions.”
Kane Wintersgill (Eastern Suburbs assistant coach): “We’re still in the very early stages of the season and are still working through a lot of aspects of the playing style. It’s a very new group and there’s definitely some things with and without the ball that we’re looking to refine. We had the benefit of playing Hamilton in pre-season which gave us a bit of a look at them but obviously we’re not taking anything for granted in that respect. We’ve looked at a few things which we’ve identified and we’ll look to take that into the game.”

Coach: Paul Hobson
Quotes
Paul Hobson (Waitakere coach): “After conceding a goal in the first minute, I thought we did really well last week in our first proper game together. We showed a bit of character to be able to get the points, we had our goalkeeper to thank a bit in the second half but everybody played their part. Every game is massive for us and hopefully we can just keep getting better. I said to the boys after the game that we’d set a bench mark of four or five out of ten and hopefully we can keep getting better every single week.”

Coach: Scott Hales
Quotes
Ivan Vicelich (Auckland City assistant coach): “I think the two teams will be similar, the two head coaches have worked together before for a couple of years. I expect Sunday to be a battle and a good one for people to come along and watch. It’s an exciting game for Jose (Figueira) to return for against his old club. We're looking forward to getting out there, Kiwitea Street is looking great and it will be good to finally kick a ball at our home field.”
Scott Hales (Team Wellington coach): “It’s vital to get three points in your first game in charge and the boys feel confident leading into the weekend because they do have a good victory behind them. I’m happy with the progress but that’s the vital word because we are still progressing and getting better at what we do. Auckland are probably in the same space as us where they’re still going through their processes and hoping to get better each week. I’m expecting a tight affair and a tactical battle, it will probably be a nail-biter.”
