New appointments confirmed in key roles

An exciting new period for New Zealand Football is set to begin with confirmation of appointments in three key positions.

Two of those roles, General Manager of Football and General Manager of Brand and Partnerships, are newly created and will be filled by Daniel Farrow and James Wear respectively while Andy Boyens has also been confirmed in the previously existing position of Technical Director.

Farrow and Boyens are both long-term employees of New Zealand Football and move into their new roles after performing strongly in other areas of the business.

Farrow has served as Competitions and Events Director for nearly five years and will now oversee all football-related matters, including player welfare, competitions, events, projects and football development.

Former All White Boyens also joined New Zealand Football in 2015 and previously held the position of Football Development Manager (Youth). He has operated as Interim Technical Director for the past year, a role he also assumed in 2017.

Boyens will lead the technical and football development teams, working closely with Farrow to drive progress in these areas.

Wear will meanwhile bring a fresh perspective in leading the Brand and Partnerships team, which incorporates media, communications, marketing, digital systems and technology.

With an extensive background in strategic brand development and marketing, Wear has worked in the sports sector for a decade and comes to New Zealand Football from New Zealand Cricket, for whom he operated as Head of Commercial and Marketing.

Following the permanent appointment of himself as CEO in May, Andrew Pragnell says New Zealand Football have moved swiftly to ensure the organisational structure is fit for purpose and key leadership positions are filled.

He is delighted to welcome Farrow, Boyens and Wear to their new roles and believes all three have the necessary experience and credentials to succeed.

“It’s great to see quality candidates coming through the New Zealand sporting system,” he says.

“It’s critical now that we continue to grow the capability of people who are invested in our development and ensure we retain talent across the football system in New Zealand.”
