Title-chasing Capital have roared back into contention in the Futsal National League after going through the Southern Travel Series unbeaten to draw level with Northern Comets at the top of the table.
Capital, who had not been in action since the first instalment of the Southern Home Series in mid-October, had significant ground to make up on the leaders in Christchurch over the weekend but dealt well with that pressure, recording three wins and a draw to continue their undefeated record.
Their most significant encounters took place against title rivals Southern United, both games turning into thrillers. Capital edged the first 4-3 before the spoils were shared in the second with a fiercely-fought 4-4 draw.
Defending champions Southern won their other two matches, both against Central, to put themselves fourth on the table, two points behind third-placed Auckland.
With all sides now having played six matches, 2016 champions Canterbury United Dragons are fifth after picking up two wins in the Southern Travel Series while Central remain rooted to the foot of the table with Bay of Plenty, both sides yet to register a point.
All teams will come together for the first time on the weekend of 24-25 November for the first National Series of the season at Pulman Arena in Auckland.
