The Sports Performance and Prevention Conference organisers, in collaboration with ACC SportSmart and New Zealand Football, are excited to be bringing another pivotal conference for 2019 to the New Zealand sporting industry and those practicing within it.
Earlybird tickets for the annual Sports Performance and Prevention Conference (SPPC) in Auckland in February are now on sale.
The SPPC brings together a wide range of international and nationally acclaimed industry experts for a valuable learning and sharing opportunity in New Zealand Sport.
This one-day, multi-factorial conference is a key event for anyone involved in the sports industry with the responsibility for ensuring the development, performance, welfare and health of our everyday athletes and sports people of New Zealand. It is an important session with the 2019 sporting season coming up.
Dr. Mark Fulcher - one of New Zealand’s leading sport and exercise physicians and managing partner with Axis Sports Medicine Specialists - says the Sports Performance and Prevention Conference is a must event for any sports practitioners and providers.
“This is a great way to engage with the broader sports medicine community and sport practitioners in general, plus spread the word about best practice injury prevention and performance strategies," he says. "This allows us to improve the health and experience of all sports participants."
“The Everyday Athlete” will be the central theme for 2019’s conference with presentations focused around sports performance, injury prevention, the female athlete, coach responsibility and health and wellbeing within sport, ensuring the everyday athlete plus our sportsmen and women remain in the game, playing and performing well. A superb line-up of renowned professionals will share their expert advice and practical learnings which you can practically implement within your sport.
With an overall underlying approach to player welfare, health, wellbeing and development, the SPPC organisers welcome the likes of: high performance and athlete development personnel, strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists and sports physicians, through to community sport and coaching personnel within national and regional sports and governing bodies, across all sporting codes.
Amongst an exciting line-up of industry experts and professionals are international guest speakers Mick Hughes and Dr. Tim Gabbett and New Zealand's own Dr. Stacy Simms, with additional speaker announcements to follow over the coming weeks.
Mick is an experienced Physiotherapist and Exercise Physiologist who consults at The Melbourne Sports Medicine Centre. Mick has expertise in ACL injury management and ACL injury prevention and has previously worked for elite sporting teams such as the Collingwood Magpies Netball team, Newcastle Jets U-20s Soccer team and North Queensland Cowboys U-20s Rugby League team.
