When the All Whites take on the Socceroos for the historic Soccer Ashes this week, there will be an extra nod to the past, with the team set to play in a limited retro kit inspired by the shirt worn during New Zealand’s FIFA World Cup debut in 1982.
Originally released in March this year alongside the final of the FIFA World Cup – Oceania Qualifiers, the retro kit proved so popular that it sold out on the New Zealand Football store.
Now, it has been brought back once more and this time the team will be wearing it on the pitch when they face Australia.
Created in partnership between PUMA and New Zealand Football, the kit comes in two colourways.
The white version features a subtle pinstripe design with a black collar, sleeves and cuffs, while the black version is the inverse, with white detailing.
The limited-edition kit is available now from the New Zealand Football store, as well as at the stadium on matchday.
The All Whites face the Socceroos in a two-leg home-and-away series for the Soccer Ashes trophy – first at Canberra’s GIO Stadium on Friday 5 September (KO 9:45pm NZT / 7:45pm local), followed by a homecoming match at Go Media Stadium in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on Tuesday 9 September (KO 7:00pm NZT).
Tickets for the All Whites v Socceroos clash at Go Media Stadium are available now from Ticketek.
Watch both matches live and free on FIFA+ and TVNZ.
