Ford Women in Football Leadership graduate Kat Greaney wears multiple hats in the football community.
She serves as Junior Coordinator at Moturoa Football Club and is also the Sports Coordinator at Sacred Heart Girls’ College. In both roles, her passion for developing tamariki is driving real change.
Since stepping into her role at Moturoa AFC, Greaney has overseen a 25% increase in junior club membership.
Greaney’s positive impact on the community was recognised last year, where she was recognised with the Sport Taranaki Impact Award at the annual Taranaki Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
Now a candidate on the Female-Only C Licence, Greaney is eager to take her coaching to the next level and inspire others to do the same.
Greaney hopes to pass on her learnings from the course and encourage young girls to continue their coaching education, growing the game in her club and wider region.
Greaney also played a pivotal role in launching Moturoa’s MILO Fantails programme for 2024.
“This is our second year running MILO Fantails at Moturoa,” she explains. “It’s been really cool to see the coaches that are keen to get involved.”
Thanks to the success of the 2023 programme, many of last year’s participants have now signed up with clubs for the 2025 community season – bringing a new wave of tamariki into this year’s programme.
“You can really see that the programme's doing exactly what it was meant to do which was encourage girls to have a go at football,” she says.
Greaney credits the Ford Women in Leadership programme to helping her lay down her path in sport.
“It gave me so much belief in myself,” she says. “I feel like I’m succeeding in that area now.”
One of the most powerful aspects of the programme, she says, was the network it built.
“There were people in my course who encouraged me to go for my C Licence – and now I’m finally here. I’m really excited.”
