New Zealand Football has partnered with global small business platform Xero to help support the community game in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The long-term partnership, agreed until 2026, will see New Zealand Football work with Xero to help create a club support programme. The programme will look to set the benchmark for club development across the country, focusing on factors such as administration, leadership, financial management and community engagement.
Andrew Pragnell, CEO of New Zealand Football, sees this as a great opportunity to assist the community game:
“We are really pleased to partner with Xero to help support the football community in Aotearoa New Zealand. This is an exciting time for the game from grassroots right up to the international stage.
“We know the success of the community game in based on the hard work of volunteers across the country. We are hopeful this partnership will see them given the tools they need to help support the excellent work they already do.
“It is brilliant to see a Kiwi success story like Xero join with us to champion community football whilst also partnering with FIFA for the home FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023”.
Emma Scoringe, Xero Head of Marketing NZ, says the partnership will help football clubs across Aotearoa, allowing clubs to balance better numbers off the field through a club support programme.
“Local clubs are often run by dedicated Kiwis who may not have experience in aspects of running a small business. As a result, they’re spending additional time on finances and general admin, which is time better spent managing the growth and development of a club.
“We look forward to introducing our technology to more football clubs across Aotearoa because we believe better numbers off the field will contribute to better numbers on the field.”
