One-cap All White Callum McCowatt has signed for Danish side FC Helsingør on a free transfer, joining the growing list of New Zealanders playing in Europe.

Having trained with Helsingør last summer, McCowatt has made the move permanent this week. He leaves New Zealand after a season at the Wellington Phoenix, and making a big impact in the ISPS Handa Premiership before that, scoring 21 goals for Eastern Suburbs in a championship run.

McCowatt joins fellow kiwis Dalton Wilkins and Elijah Just at Helsingør, and is delighted to make the move to Europe.

"It felt like the right time for me to come to Europe, and try myself outside of New Zealand and Australia. FC Helsingør and I have been in dialogue for a long time, and they've been interested in picking me up for a long time."

"I have talked to Dalton and Eli, and they both warmly recommended FC Helsingør, and then it is nice that they are here to help me blend into the squad, and get used to playing in Denmark," McCowatt told fchelsingor.dk.

FC Helsingør compete in Denmark's Division 1, having won Division 2 and promotion last season.
