Quotes

Jose Figueira: “No bones about it, it’s another tricky game and playing at Westpac Stadium on a big pitch with a good surface will suit both teams. They’re a talented and energetic team so we’ve got to be right at it from the first whistle. We can expect a game where both teams will play a high-intensity, high-tempo game. Both teams will look to play from the back and try to control and dominate the game but certainly for us there’s a focus on our quality on the ball so we can get that control and dominate in the right areas and spaces.”

Quotes

Jess Ibrom: “The story of our season is plenty of half chances and it’s a cliche but you have to take them. There are some individuals that are realising this level is the national league. We’ve blooded some very young players who’ve done fantastically well. For me, that’s pleasing, they’ve now got national league experience and I’ll certainly be doing that more.”

Scott Hales: “Last week was the second week in a row where the game got away from us. We’re a bit shell-shocked when we concede against the run of play but we just need to get on with it. There were certainly some positives we took from it and we’ve got a lot of senior players in the squad who will be sorting this out among our group.”

Coach: Paul Hobson

Quotes

Tony Readings: “It’s great to be back at home, last time we played here people were out, there was a good atmosphere and buzz around – it definitely helps when you're getting that support. If we have as many people down here as possible it gives us that little bit extra. For us, things are starting to come together a little bit, there’s still areas that need improving but it’s getting better. We’ll treat it like any other game but we know Waitakere are a good team with a good coach, they’re well organised and are unbeaten for a reason.”

Paul Hobson: “We had a good performance against Canterbury in the first half last week, and we’ve been trying to build on that in training this week. We’re not going to change too much, just try and get better at what we do. There’s a lot of fight and competition for places at the moment, so hopefully we can put out a good performance, which we’ll need to if we are to get anything out of the game on Sunday.”
