The finalists of the Delivereasy Chatham Cup and Delivereasy Kate Sheppard Cup have been confirmed after an action-packed weekend of semi-finals.
At Keith Hay Park, Auckland United reached their first ever Chatham Cup final with a 3–0 win over Nelson Suburbs. Daniel Toluwalayo Olaoye, Matthew Conroy, and Emiliano Tade all struck in the first half to seal the result early.
The other Delivereasy Chatham Cup semi-final at Madills Farm saw Eastern Suburbs take the lead through captain Jake Mechell before Wellington Olympic levelled through Isa Prins from the penalty spot. With no further goals in normal or extra time, the holders held their nerve in the shootout to win 4–3, with Scott Basalaj again the hero for the Greeks.
In the Kate Sheppard Cup, Auckland United booked their spot in the final after a 1–0 win over Eastern Suburbs, thanks to a first-half strike from Rene Wasi. The reigning champions held on despite late pressure, with goalkeeper Hannah Mitchell and the crossbar keeping the scoreline intact.
The last semi-final featured Wellington Phoenix Reserves and Cashmere Technical at Fraser Park. Lily Brazendale gave the Phoenix the lead before Rebecca Lake equalised with a header. Just as the game looked set for extra time, Amber de Wit struck in the 90th minute to seal a 2–1 victory and send Wellington Phoenix Reserves into their first ever Delivereasy Kate Sheppard Cup final.
Both finals will be played on Sunday 7 September at North Harbour Stadium. The Delivereasy Chatham Cup final between Auckland United and Wellington Olympic kicks off at 1pm, followed by the Delivereasy Kate Sheppard Cup final between Auckland United and Wellington Phoenix Reserves at 4pm.
