Updates to National League Match Week 1 fixtures

New Zealand Football can confirm the following changes to the National League Match Week 1 fixtures:

Central League

Havelock North Wanderers’ fixture with Western Suburbs, due to take place on Sunday 27 March, has been postponed due to significant flooding in the Hawke’s Bay region.

Southern League

The fixture between Selwyn United and Nomads United has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in the Selwyn United squad. The postponement was requested by Selwyn United and approved by New Zealand Football.

One of the thresholds in the National League Covid-19 Protocols for postponing a fixture require 35% or more of a team’s start list to be isolating. This would ordinarily be determined by the previous two National League fixture start lists. However, as this is the first week of competition, Selwyn United named their initial squad of 16 as requested by New Zealand Football, and since then at least six players have either tested positive or are household contacts and therefore can’t play.

Details of the rescheduled fixtures will be announced in due course.
