Guidance for football and futsal under the Covid-19 Protection Framework

Ahead of the start of the 2022 season, New Zealand Football has today released further guidance, developed with Sport NZ and the federations, for delivering football and futsal under the Covid-19 Protection Framework.

At both Orange and Green settings football and futsal competitions and matches at youth and senior levels should operate as non-My Vaccine Pass Gatherings. Vaccination is recommended for all participants, but it is not a requirement. The activity organiser of trainings and junior football activity can choose to operate the activity as a MVP Gathering or non-MVP Gathering.

Guidance for delivering football and futsal at the Red setting has also been updated to provide clarity on how trainings should operate. At the Red setting, the activity organiser for trainings can choose to operate activity as a MVP or non-MVP Gathering.

The Government has indicated that they are reviewing the settings within the Covid-19 Protection Framework next week. In light of any changes, we will continue to work with Sport NZ to ensure we continue to deliver football and futsal safely and in line with Government requirements.
