It is with great sadness we mark the passing last week of Scott Paterson, a director of the organising committee of the FIFA U-20 World Cup held in New Zealand earlier this year.
Scott, who served as CEO of Queenstown Airport, died after a short battle with cancer aged 54.
Chairman of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Local Organising Committee Bill Moran said Paterson played a key role in the hosting of one of the biggest sports events New Zealand has ever seen.
“Scott was a great team player and contributed hugely to the successful running of the tournament through his contribution to the development of a robust cost structure and risk framework for the organising committee. He was a pleasure to work with and liked by everyone involved and he will be greatly missed.”
New Zealand Football extends its deepest sympathies to Scott’s wife Lesley and their three children Nicholas, Claudine and Esmond.
