The young talent around the country is clearly evenly spread with four different regions from New Zealand and one from Australia claiming the honours at the National Youth Futsal Championships over the weekend.
But the brightest future appears to lie in the mainland after Canterbury United picked up a trio of team titles and also featured prominently in the individual awards.
Canterbury took out the U-14 Boys competition and were also dominant at U-19 level, earning the title in both the male and female categories.
There was plenty of silverware heading elsewhere though as Bay of Plenty became U-12 Boys champions while Auckland and Capital did likewise in the U-14 and U-16 Girls categories.
The only title to head to foreign shores was the U-16 Boys, which was won by Galaxy FC from the Gold Coast.
The focus was not just on success on the court throughout the three days of futsal fun though.
Personal development for players, coaches, referees and administrators was also an important factor as over 700 of the best young futsal exponents in the country gathered at Central Trust Energy Arena in Palmerston North.
