The National Youth League is tense in the final stages of the competition.
Auckland City FC Youth secured their fifth win of the season when they edged Eastern Suburbs 1-0 courtesy of a Dino Botica goal at Bill McKinlay Park.
The Navy Blues, who are on 17 points, are two points clear of the Canterbury United Dragons, have a tough match this weekend against Team Wellington in the penultimate round. If they win this weekend and Canterbury lose, they can put the trophy to bed.
Meanwhile Canterbury, on 15 points and the same goal difference of eight, will be looking to defeat Southern United away from home to remain a chance away to claim the title early in 2018.
Tasman United, currently in third place, still have a chance of taking home the trophy but they need the perfect finish and for their main rivals Auckland and Canterbury to fall over.
