Girls and Women's Week: 15-21 February

Girls nd Wmen' WeekGirls and Women’s Football Week was a promotional event as part of NZF’s Females in Football programme, offering more opportunities to participate in football as a player, coach or referee.

Throughout the week (February 15 – 21, 2010) a wide-range of easily accessible local and national events were opened the door for to anyone who has never tried football before.

Leading into the opening of the 2010 football season, Girls and Women’s Football Week will:

  • target more than 150 primary schools nationally to promote girls and women's football
  • target more than 2000 young girls nationally to participate in fun football festivals, where they can meet members Football Ferns
  • provide a NZF coaching qualification to more than 300 women nationally
  • provide a NZF refereeing qualification to more than 240 women nationally
  • support clubs in the recruitment of female players (6-12 years), coaches and referees with promotion opportunities at festivals in their area.
