Overview

The Knockout Cup has been contested since 1994 and, as the name suggests, is the national club knockout competition for women. Like its male equivalent, the Chatham Cup, the competition is modelled along the lines of the FA Cup in England.

The competition is played along regional lines up until the semi finals and, in the absence of a national winter club competition, the Knockout Cup effectively determines the best women’s football club in the country.

Lynn Avon United are the most successful club in the history of the Women’s Knockout Cup, lifting the trophy nine times, including in 2009, when they defeated Claudelands Rovers in the final.
