AUCKLAND - Team Wellington midfielder Cole Peverley has been drafted into the All Whites World Cup squad as standby for injured vice captain Tim Brown.

Brown returned home to New Zealand yesterday and will undergo surgery on his shoulder tomorrow (May 27) in Auckland. Brown broke a bone in his shoulder during the All Whites 2-1 loss to Australia at the MCG on Monday.

Peverley was part of the domestic training camp held in Auckland earlier this month but missed selection in the original World Cup squad of 23 announced by coach Ricki Herbert on May 10.

21 year old Peverley was a member of the New Zealand Olympic team in Beijing in 2008 and will leave for the All Whites pre-World Cup camp in Austria on Thursday afternoon.
