AUCKLAND - The five nations seeking to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013 now know the path they must take to get there after the conducting of the official draw for the OFC U-20 Championship.

The tournament will be held in the Lautoka and Ba regions of Fiji from March 21 to 29 and will involve the hosts, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, who will all be battling it out for the one place on offer at Turkey 2013.

New Zealand's Junior All Whites are the defending champions of Oceania at U-20 level after earning the title as hosts in 2011 and going on to compete at that year's FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia. They performed well on the global stage, drawing 1-1 with both Cameroon and Uruguay before being eliminated due to a narrow 1-0 loss against eventual runners-up Portugal.

The teams will play each other once in a round robin tournament based on a league system and each side will also have one bye due to the uneven number of participants.

The official draw for the OFC U-20 Championship was conducted today at the OFC headquarters in Auckland, New Zealand, by OFC Head of Competitions David Firisua with the assistance of members of the OFC General Secretariat.

All matches on the first four days of action will be staged at Lautoka’s Churchill Park but the venue is unavailable for the final day so the last round of games will take place in nearby Ba at Govind Park. The kick-off times will be confirmed in due course.
