AUCKLAND – All Whites skipper Ryan Nelsen has confirmed he will be joining Queen’s Park Rangers on a one year deal.
Speaking to the Press on the weekend, Nelsen he had passed a medical at the London club and agreed to a one-year deal with the option of another season.
The Loftus Road club is Nelsen’s third in the Premier League after seven seasons at Blackburn Rovers and a six month contract at Tottenham.
Nelsen says linking up with former Blackburn manager Mark Hughes was a large factor in his decision to sign with Rangers, fending off offers from clubs in the USA and elsewhere in England.
"I owe him pretty much everything,'' Nelsen said."He gave me my chance over here.”
"That was a big factor. I know Mark and his staff really well, they all really helped me when I was first over here in England, so it's nice to go full circle towards the end of my career.
"Hopefully, I can still help them out.''
