AUCKLAND – The last two clubs to lift the ASB Women’s Knockout Cup are poised to enter the fray after today’s second round draw, presenting formidable challenges for their regional opponents on Queen’s Birthday Weekend.

Current holders Glenfield Rovers begin away to Hibiscus Coast, a team one division below them, while 2010 winners – and current Northern League leaders Claudelands Rovers welcome Tauranga’s Old Blues to Hamilton for an intimidating cup debut for the Bay of Plenty side.

Dunedin Technical have landed home advantage against Otago Premier League leaders Roslyn Wakari, while in Christchurch last season’s runners up Coastal Spirit will travel across town to meet Cashmere Technical.

In the central region, Wellington United head to Palmerston North to play Central League leaders Massey University while Valeron Wanderers head the other way to play Seatoun in the capital.

The two most successful clubs in the competition are both away from home in Round Two, with nine-times winners Lynn Avon United meeting Eastern Suburbs at Madills Farm and Western Springs hosting three times winners Three Kings United at Seddon Fields.

The ASB Women’s Knockout Cup is played along federation lines until the semi finals in late July with the two best sides meeting in the final on August 26.
