Biography

Katie Hoyle grew up in the Waikato, but moved north to Auckland to pursue her football ambitions. She stared playing football at four years old and her childhood dream was to be a vet. She captained the New Zealand U-20 team in her second FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Chile 2008, by which time she had already played at a Women’s World Cup and an Olympic Games.

A nuggety holding midfielder, Hoyle lists Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi as her favourite player and women’s football pacesetters the USA as her toughest opponent.
