Born in Illinois, Jenny Bindon moved to New Zealand with now-husband Grant Bindon who she met at Lewis University where they were both athletes. Mother of one, Bindon lists among her most memorable moments a shout of “go Mommy!” from son Tyler as she was running out of the tunnel for a match against Japan at the Beijing Olympics – a match New Zealand drew 2-2 to gain the first ever Olympic football result for a New Zealand team.
One of a select group of Football Ferns to play 50 times or more ‘A’ internationals, Bindon is also the first and only goalkeeper (male or female) to achieve that mark. In recent seasons, Bindon has been playing for a men’s team north of Auckland.
