Football lovers who also enjoy a ‘flutter’ are encouraged to set aside Friday 17 July for a day at the races with friends, partners and business associates.
Friends of Football is partnering with the Avondale Jockey Club to have naming rights to the clubs next meeting scheduled for Friday 17 July.
As well as stepping in at short notice to have naming rights to the race day, Friends of Football has also agreed to support the club by sponsoring one of the key 1600m races on the day.
“We know there are many football people who enjoy a day out at the races, so we thought this was a great opportunity for us to extend the profile and awareness of Friends of Football in the community and engage our growing support base in an afternoon of fun, friendship and fraternity,” says FoF chairman John Morris.
The race day comes less than two months after Friends of Football hosted its inaugural ‘Charity Golf Day’ at Auckland’s Akarana Club in May which attracted a field of more than 100.
In return for taking ownership of the race day, Friends of Football is also able to offer a special race day package to members and guests for the day which includes.-
- Complimentary car parking, entry and race book on the day plus exclusive access to a “friends of Football’ lounge—including lunch–all for only $40 pp.
- Friends of Football hopes a number of its members will use the race day as an opportunity to host work mates or family—with tables of 4 available for $ 150 and tables of 8 for $ 300.
The person behind the ‘Friends of Football’ race day is former All White and FoF executive member, Sam Malcolmson, who is also a Steward at the Avondale Racing Club.
Malcolmson, who has a long involvement in racing both as an owner and Steward at the Counties and Avondale Jockey Clubs, also plans to organise a special ‘Punter’s Club’ for guests in the FoF lounge with tips from trainers Avondale Jockey Club Board members.
The club is also seeking sponsorship for up to three races on the day at a cost of only $400 per race. “For this a company or business gets naming rights to a race, with great brand exposure on course and across New Zealand and Australia through live TV coverage,” says Malcolmson.
Friends of Football hopes all supporters of the beautiful game will be prepared to make up a group and participate in the ‘Friends of Football race day at Avondale on Friday July 17.
Remember for only $40 you get free entry to course and an exclusive lounge area on the day, free parking, complimentary race book, lunch and race tips during the afternoon from well-known racing personalities.
